A California district attorney declined to file expenses Tuesday against former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson after he was recorded on video in a physical altercation with one other passenger on a JetBlue flight.

San Mateo County District Legal professional Steve Wagstaffe made the choice after having reviewed police reviews and movies of the April 20 incident. Both the passenger, who has not been recognized, and Tyson requested that no charges be filed.

"Yesterday afternoon the San Mateo County District Legal professional’s Workplace concluded its assessment of the case involving Mike Tyson at the San Francisco Airport on April 20, 2022 and the allegation that he dedicated a misdemeanor battery against one other passenger on an airplane whereas waiting on the terminal previous to departure," Wagstaffe stated in a statement.

"Our choice is that we are going to not file any fees against Mr. Tyson based mostly on the circumstances surrounding the confrontation. These embody the conduct of the victim main up to the incident, the interplay between Mr. Tyson and the victim, in addition to the requests of both the victim and Mr. Tyson that no expenses be filed on this case," Wagstaffe said.

The case is now closed.

Cellphone video showed Tyson, 55, appearing to try to punch someone who was pushing him away. Representatives for Tyson stated the person was harassing Tyson. The video didn't present what occurred before the altercation.

David Chesnoff, Richard Schonfeld and Martin Sabelli, attorneys for Tyson, responded to the decision to not file expenses by thanking Wagstaffe, the San Mateo County sheriff and legislation enforcement businesses "for his or her cautious, diligent, and professional work."
