ARLINGTON, Texas - Arlington police said Duff Elementary Faculty was positioned on lockdown for a time Thursday after a father or mother with a hid weapon had his gun by accident go off, hitting the dad or mum within the leg.

The varsity had early launch and college students have been released at the planned time of 12:10 p.m.

In response to police, the dad or mum, recognized as 55-year-old Anthony White, dropped his gun and by accident shot himself. His damage was not critical.

The varsity district stated White was contained in the building, near the foyer space, and not within the hallway close to students when the gun went off.

Police and college officials stated there was no threat made and the father or mother didn't have "malicious intent."

No students or employees were injured. The mum or dad was taken to an area hospital after being shot in the leg. 

Arlington Police Chief Al Jones stated after White was launched from the hospital, he was arrested and charged with illegal carrying of a weapon in prohibited locations and discharge of a firearm in sure municipalities.

Rasheed stated Thursday was the graduation day for sixth grade students at Duff Elementary.

While driving her son to highschool within the morning, she had a chat with him about Uvalde and what to do if something ever occurred at his college.

"If something happened, you’ve acquired to run wherever that’s secure and conceal," she advised her baby.
