800 employees resign after firm asks them to work from office

As the Covid scenario has improved, several corporations have already called their staff to office, ending the earn a living from home (WFH).

However, it appears some workers wish to work from home further. Lately, hundreds of workers have resigned when a company asked them to come back to the office.

Over 800 WhiteHat Jr staff have resigned from the kids on-line coding learning edtech start-up within the last two months after being asked to work from office.

This comes after WhiteHat Jr, a platform which was acquired by BYJU’S in 2020, requested its employees to return to office within a month’s time, based on an Inc42 report.

On March 18, the company announced the policy to end work from home and requested distant workers to return to office by April 18.

The resignations came from full-time employees of the sales, coding, and math teams. Extra employees are expected to put down their papers in the coming months.

One of the workers who resigned instructed the website that a month’s time was not sufficient for relocation. “Some have youngsters, some have aged and sick dad and mom, while others produce other responsibilities. It's not proper to call again employees in such a brief time frame,” the previous WhiteHat Jr employee stated.

Another employee stated salaries also factored in the determination to not return to the workplace. At the time of hiring, workers had been told about their job location – WhiteHat Jr has workplaces in Gurugram, Mumbai and Bengaluru. However, after working from residence for two years, staff believed that their salaries must be revised to replicate the price of dwelling in expensive cities.

“This was a well-planned and managed layoff that WhiteHat Jr did,” a former worker remarked.
