Days after a minimum of 19 elementary college students and two academics had been killed in a mass shooting at an elementary faculty in Uvalde, Texas, college students at faculties across the nation staged walkouts to protest gun violence.

In Michigan, college students at Oxford High School, where a college capturing occurred in November, staged a walkout at 12 p.m. on Thursday. 4 college students had been killed within the shooting.

"You see information on daily basis about youngsters getting shot and folks your age dying and it's simply incredibly unhappy and unbelievable, especially to see like kids youthful and children my age," Janoff informed ABC News. "I cant think about that being me; but it is possible as a result of it happens so often."

The 17 year-old says her school's administration was in support of the walkout and she hopes the over 200 planned demonstrations across the country send a transparent message that students are a "united front."

A walkout might not essentially change legislation, Janoff said, but these actions present "students are still united on this."

She stated that though most students aren't old enough to vote, they nonetheless wish to see change and are willing to take measures to have their voices heard in politics.

"Students do not need to be quiet about it just because they're a kid," Janoff said.
