Arlington police said Duff Elementary College was placed on lockdown for a time Thursday after a father or mother with a hid weapon had his gun by accident go off, hitting the dad or mum in the leg.
ARLINGTON, Texas - Arlington police said Duff Elementary Faculty was positioned on lockdown for a time Thursday after a dad or mum with a concealed weapon had his gun unintentionally go off, hitting the father or mother in the leg.
The varsity had early release and college students have been launched on the planned time of 12:10 p.m.
In line with police, the father or mother, recognized as 55-year-old Anthony White, dropped his gun and unintentionally shot himself. His injury was not serious.
The college district said White was inside the constructing, close to the lobby space, and not within the hallway near students when the gun went off.
Police and faculty officers stated there was no menace made and the mum or dad didn't have "malicious intent."

Arlington Police Chief Al Jones said after White was launched from the hospital, he was arrested and charged with illegal carrying of a weapon in prohibited locations and discharge of a firearm in certain municipalities.

Rasheed mentioned Thursday was the commencement day for 6th grade college students at Duff Elementary.
Whereas driving her son to school in the morning, she had a chat with him about Uvalde and what to do if one thing ever occurred at his faculty.
"If one thing occurred, you’ve acquired to run anyplace that’s secure and conceal," she told her baby.
While some say the incident in Uvalde is simply too contemporary to talk politics, Mitchell stated something must be executed now.
"They wish to speak about it, they wish to campaign on it, they want to fundraiser on it, but they don’t want to truly cross any laws and do anything," he added.
