Man arrested in connection with “college shooter” signs found in 3 New Hampshire communities

BARNSTEAD, N.H. -- A person was arrested Friday after a number of signs saying "college shooter" were present in Barnstead, Epsom, and Pittsfield, New Hampshire, the state's Division of Security announced. Man Hanson, 61, of Pittsfield, faces a number of charges. 

An increased amount of law enforcement officials were placed at faculties in the communities as a result of the indicators. A number of colleges initiated lockdowns as a precaution shortly after.

Hanson allegedly positioned the indicators around the communities, the Department of Safety stated, however they decided there isn't a credible menace presently.

One such signal was written on a paper plate. The safety department released a photo of the plate however blurred a part of it "to protect the integrity of the investigation." 

Hanson was arrested on a felony cost of criminal threatening and three misdemeanor fees together with false report to law enforcement, false public alarm and legal threatening. He's being held in Merrimack County Jail pending a hearing scheduled for Tuesday.

No other suspects have been charged at the moment.
