Lincoln was so quiet during the game, I realized they were in trouble and he would win. He was really concentrating. Good job.
Are those Meeples on Niki's shirt?? Great playthrough as always. Thank you!
I have to admit, Lincoln always has these cool sweat shirts 😀
Recently bough and played this game. Loved it. I especially like how you have to make do with the hand you got, making tough decisions at times.
This game reminds me of Crusader Kings in a lot of ways!
Post game discussion wise, I totally see what you guys are saying. There is a challenge getting stuff on the board when people choose to go to a, let's say, yellow city, and you don't have a good yellow card…so it can lead to a turn or two where it doesn't seem like you can get a town under your control…and that can be very detrimental in end-game scoring because presence on the board is points and controlling different areas can be a lot of points…Lincoln got a LOT of end game points from controlling regions. The semi-randomness of card acquisitions, it can be a challenge in that one aspect of the game. I think everyone has plenty of opportunities to get vikings or church or woo-ing the maidens…but getting a piece on the board is either heavily card-dependent…OR requires you to spend a lot of money to do it using roads…but as was stated, money is pretty tight. Interesting game though. Thumbs up!
What happens in Ireland…
The amount of final discussion here is a good sign. I have played this game about three times and am still catching new details and opportunities of game play. Yet to play with three players.
The one coins are so tiny, and money is so tight, I just use the five coins as ones and leave the one coins in the box.
Wonderful discussion as always!! Great video y'all!
I ordered this game a few hours before this was posted. Good to know I’ll have a solid teach video when it gets here 👌
Great video and play through – I bought this game before the video came out and delighted to see you play it and enjoy it. Coming from Cork myself I was happily surprised to hear Dave reference the county 🙂 it’s a dynamic game which you need to keep an eye on many things a lot! Niceto see Mark back on also. Keeps up the great video content 👍 I think the art work is from an Irish artist Deirdre de Barra who I think has a webcomic set in those times.
I just got this game yesterday! learned about it at pax east and had to get it. thanks for the playthrough!
The amount of post-game discussion in this episode just shows how much there is in this game! Like this style of game or not I'm so interested in what seems to be a lot of meaningful decisions in this box.
Damn, if only Nikki viking-ed Lincolns spot in Munster that turned into a monastery and allowed him to expand. Great game. I got a copy of it but havent got a chance to play with friends yet so this scratches that itch.
Aoife is an ancient Celtic girl's name, that is pronounced EE-fa. Modern versions of this name could be Eve or Eva.
Hey it's a new GameNight! Boy do I love it when you have new players at the table. Wait…could that be? Is that NASA engineer, family strategy board game and wargame enthusiast Mark Johnson?!?! Wow, blast from the past!!
What a game!
