800 employees resign after company asks them to work from workplace

As the Covid scenario has improved, several corporations have already called their workers to office, ending the make money working from home (WFH).

Nevertheless, it appears some employees need to work from home further. Recently, a whole bunch of staff have resigned when a company requested them to come to the workplace.

Over 800 WhiteHat Jr staff have resigned from the kids online coding studying edtech start-up in the last two months after being requested to work from office.

This comes after WhiteHat Jr, a platform which was acquired by BYJU’S in 2020, requested its workers to return to office inside a month’s time, based on an Inc42 report.

On March 18, the corporate introduced the policy to end earn a living from home and asked remote workers to return to workplace by April 18.

The resignations came from full-time workers of the sales, coding, and math teams. More staff are expected to put down their papers within the coming months.

One of the workers who resigned informed the website that a month’s time was not enough for relocation. “Some have kids, some have aged and sick parents, while others have other responsibilities. It is not right to name again workers in such a short period of time,” the previous WhiteHat Jr worker said.

One other worker mentioned salaries also factored in the decision to not return to the workplace. On the time of hiring, employees had been informed about their job location – WhiteHat Jr has places of work in Gurugram, Mumbai and Bengaluru. Nonetheless, after working from residence for 2 years, employees believed that their salaries should be revised to reflect the cost of residing in costly cities.

“This was a well-planned and managed layoff that WhiteHat Jr did,” a former worker remarked.
