10 injured, 3 regulation enforcement officials damage after gunfire erupts in Charleston, S.C.

Ten people had been injured, 4 critically, and three legislation enforcement officials had been harm Monday night after gunfire erupted in downtown Charleston, South Carolina, in response to police.

Reynolds mentioned there have been more than 100 evidence markers at the shooting scene, and greater than half are shell casings.

“There’s lots of weapons that have been fired. Handguns, long guns, 223 rounds. If anybody doesn’t know what a 223 spherical will do, it’ll blow your leg right off, it’ll blow your head proper off your shoulders. Those are the kinds of rounds that were fired last evening,” Reynolds said.

He said there have been “a pair completely different groups capturing at one another generally.”

“As we stand here proper now, we’re fortunate we don’t have a useless cop or dead citizen or lifeless community members," Reynolds stated.

The investigation is ongoing and officers are still working the scene.

Two individuals have been arrested stemming from the assaults on the deputies, police mentioned.

These suspects were recognized as Ayesha McGee and Tahira McGee, NBC affiliate of WCBD of Charleston reported, citing experiences from the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office. 

Ayesha McGee was charged with third-degree assault and battery and Tahira McGee with second-degree assault and battery and resisting arrest. 

Officials said more arrests are expected.

Officers mentioned South Avenue from Nassau Street to Drake Avenue and America Street from Reid Road to Mary Street within the space will remain closed to process the capturing scene.

The mayor condemned gun violence within the city and across the nation, a nod to the Buffalo, New York, supermarket capturing and the Uvalde, Texas, faculty capturing.

“I don’t find out about you however I’m mad about it. I’m fed up,” Tecklenburg stated. “Enough is enough."

Tecklenburg introduced an 8-point plan to handle gun violence that includes graduated penalties for gun crimes, promoting safer firearm use, and shutting down events without proper permits.

The capturing occurred during a violent Memorial Day weekend. A preliminary count found that gun violence left not less than 156 people dead and 412 injured from 5 p.m. Friday to five a.m. Tuesday, the Gun Violence Archive said.
